Locals Only: One Drunk Puppy will help rescue dogs in valley

It’s not as cruel — or, depending on your sensibilities, hilarious — as it sounds.

One Drunk Puppy is the Silverton’s annual wine tasting event benefiting local animal rescues.

Saturday’s fundraiser will feature free appetizers, a silent auction, a DJ and plenty of international wines.

It’s set from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Veil Pavilion, 3333 Blue Diamond Road.

Tickets are $35 in advance, $45 on Saturday, and can be purchased at the Silverton or online at www.silvertoncasino.com.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit A Home 4 Spot, Golden Retriever Rescue of Southern Nevada, German Shepherd Rescue Las Vegas, Southern Nevada Beagle Rescue Foundation and Little Friends Foundation.

For more information, call 702-263-7777.

Free preview

Time flies when you’re having fun, as the Summerlin Library and Performing Arts Center celebrates its 20th anniversary with a free preview of “Hello, Dolly!” featuring selected scenes from the musical, performed by the Broadway Bound program of Studio One’s Summerlin Dance Academy. The show opens an eight-performance run Friday, but you can catch the free preview at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Summerlin Library Theater, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. For information, call 702-838-5131 or visit www.broadwayboundlv.com.

Rum Day

If you want to celebrate National Rum Day, you can do it sailor-style on Friday night at the Double Down Saloon, 4640 Paradise Road. From 10 to
11:30 p.m., models from Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum will serve free Jerry Floats, which are rum, cola and ice cream. Shots of the rum will be on special all night for $3.

Party time

An abandoned buffet at Bally’s offers a sky view and a perfect roost for a retro-Vegas style gathering of swinging standards and drop-in guests hosted by Zowie Bowie. The last (for now, anyway) of four such parties concludes at 10:30 p.m. today at Bally’s, 3645 Las Vegas Blvd. South.

Cold War Kids

They’ve referred to themselves as the Wilco of soul-punk. See if SoCal indie rockers Cold War Kids live up to that lofty standard at 8 p.m. Friday at the Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Tickets are $20; call 702-698-7000.

Highest-ranked pizza restaurants in Las Vegas by diners

People have a lot of opinions on pizza, but given that Americans could eat up to 180 slices in a year, it only makes sense that all details are considered when choosing a go-to local spot.
