4 inspiring movies on Netflix

Scouring that behemoth that is the Netflix library for something worthwhile to watch? Look no further. These movies are all incredible stories packed full of powerful messages. You might shed a tear or two, but these movies are guaranteed to restore your faith in humanity.

Unconditional

The 2012 Christian drama “Unconditional” is a movie based on the inspiring true story of Joe Bradford.

When Samantha’s husband is killed in a senseless act of violence, her whole world is turned upside down. In the wake of her loss, Samantha loses her faith, but a chance encounter with a childhood friend gives her hope.

This movie beautifully transforms tragedy into an encouraging message of faith and love.

“Unconditional” has an Ok.com 100 percent worth your time rating and 10+ age rating.

The Rainmaker

Francis Ford Coppola’s 1997 drama “The Rainmaker” is an inspiring story of an idealistic but determined young lawyer challenging a corrupt insurance company.

Rudy Baylor (Matt Damon) teams up with a cynical paralegal (Danny DeVito) to take the case of an elderly couple whose son is dying of leukemia, but their insurance company will not pay for a bone marrow transplant.

If you believe in rooting for the underdog, Rudy is the one to root for. Facing overwhelming odds, Rudy fights to do the right thing and inspires us to do the same.

“The Rainmaker” has an Ok.com age rating of 13+ and 100 percent worth your time.

The King’s Speech

Winning four Academy Awards in 2011, “The King’s Speech” is a British historical drama about King George VI.

Before he became King George, he was Prince Albert, the Duke of York desperately struggling with a stammer. Played by the brilliant Colin Firth, Albert enlists the help of a speech therapist, Lionel Logue (Geoffrey Rush), to overcome his speech impediment and become a confident leader.

Logue uses some, shall we say, unconventional means to help Albert. In these scenes there is some pretty intense language. However, the language is very much relevant to the story and even becomes somewhat humorous. Because of these scenes, it may not be appropriate for younger audiences.

Overall, “The King’s Speech” is a wonderful movie about friendship and understanding, no matter what your station in life is. Even a king needs a friend.

Ok.com rates “The King Speech” at 100 percent worth your time and appropriate for ages 12+.

Freedom Writers

“Freedom Writers” is based on the 2007 true story of Erin Gruwell, a young English teacher who changes the lives of her at-risk students by encouraging them to share their stories with the world.

Hilary Swank gives a powerful performance as Mrs. Gruwell. In a racially divided classroom, she teaches her students tolerance and learns that she is not that different from her students, either.

With so many inspiring messages for people of all ages and backgrounds, “Freedom Writers” is definitely a movie you don’t want to miss.

“Freedom Writers” has a 100 percent worth your time rating on Ok.com and is appropriate for ages 13+.
