David Frizzell, Shelly West sharing stage

They're from a forgotten era of country music, one you think of about as often as those movies Clint Eastwood made with the orangutan.

And yet David Frizzell and Shelly West kept country going through the rough "Urban Cowboy" days until Garth came along. They had family ties to an earlier era of Nashville royalty: David the brother of Lefty Frizzell and Shelly the daughter of Dottie West. They had a No. 1 song when Eastwood used "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" in "Any Which Way You Can."

The singers had more hits, alone and together, and now they're sharing the stage again today at Aliante Station. Tickets are $22-$39.50 for the 8 p.m. show at 7300 Aliante Parkway, North Las Vegas. Call 547-5300.
