Gary Allan among stars raising funds for Xtreme G.I. Foundation

So Randy Couture walks into a bar …

Maybe you can keep going with an actual joke, but this story leads to Friday’s “Coyote Under the Stars &Stripes” benefit.

The UFC champ and co-star of “The Expendables” flicks happens to be a fan of Elvis Monroe, a band headed by Lifehouse guitarist Ben Carey, which plays the Red Rock Resort lounge once a month.

On one such Thursday, talk turned to the idea of an Elvis Monroe benefit concert for Couture’s Xtreme G.I. Foundation to help injured troops. Station Casino entertainment director Monica Reeves offered to host it, but pointed out that if bigger names came onboard, it could grow into a larger event that could raise more money.

Couture said he would phone up his friend Gary Allan, the longtime country star who came back strong with last year’s “Set You Free” album and the hit “Every Storm (Runs Out of Rain).”

The Station folk then reached out to Darryl Worley, whom they’ve been booking since his 9/11 anthem “Have You Forgotten?”

KCYE-FM, 102.7 also got in on the act, resulting in an outdoor show set up for 4,000 people at Sunset Station, with all profits going to the foundation.
