Here’s the full lineup for Electric Daisy Carnival 2016
May 23, 2016 - 11:27 am
The lineup for the 2016 edition of Electric Daisy Carnival, which is slated to take place June 17 through 19, has been revealed. Although event promoter Insomniac issued official word this morning, really it only serves as confirmation for savvy dance music fans who by now have undoubtedly already sussed out the full lineup, after poring over the custom-curated mix offered up by Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella on Friday during Insomniac’s radio broadcast.
“A lot of hard work has gone into this,” Rotella told SiriusXM listeners tuning into the segment, which has since been posted on SoundCloud. “Now it’s time for the EDC Las Vegas lineup. I’m going to give you this information in a creative way. There’s no better way to deliver you your musical experience to EDC Las Vegas than to just play it for you.
“I’m going to give you a moment to get a paper and pen, because you’re going to have to write down the music that you recognize. So make sure you’re listening closely and have that pen out, have your phone out, take notes. Two-hundred-fifteen artists are going to be announced here on Night Owl Radio. This is 99 percent of the lineup for you here in a musical format. Shazam might work on some tracks; might not work for others. It’s going to take some work, but this is the lineup for 2016.”
With that, Rotella went on to allude to the acts on this year’s lineup, sharing a mix that stitched together snippets of songs by the individual artists playing each stage, starting off with “My My My” by Armand Van Helden, who’s due at Upside Down House, one of two intimate stages at EDC. One of eight stages at this year’s festival, the stage, which will cater to “thick basslines and bumping house,” according to Rotella, will feature a number of new acts signed to the Insomniac imprint.
As with past versions of the festival, which moved to Las Vegas Motor Speedway in 2011 from the Los Angeles Coliseum, all of the stages will feature new adornments and revisions, including an expanded 50-foot ceiling and oversized mirror ball at the Neon Garden stage, Cosmic Meadow, which has been redesigned, and the Circuit Grounds, which will purportedly be three times bigger than last year’s arena setup and have a 360-degree stage.
Nearly a half-million fans reportedly attended the annual dance music festival last year over the course of three days, and according to figures compiled by independent research firm Beacon Economics LLC and released by the promoter this past February, the event has meant an infusion of $1.3 billion into the economy since 2011.
The full lineup, which is listed below, features a healthy mixture of seasoned icons, emerging acts and massive headliners, including Eric Prydz, Seven Lions, Jauz, DJ Snake, Dada Life, Above & Beyond, the Chainsmokers, Tiesto, Flux Pavilion, Knife Party, 12th Planet and a host of other artists. Tickets for the 20th-anniversary edition of EDC are on sale now at lasvegas.electricdaisycarnival.com.
