Las Vegas’ Imagine Dragons raking in the dough
March 10, 2014 - 6:25 pm
Remember a few years back when Imagine Dragons used to play Beauty Bar?
They could buy the joint now.
According to Billboard magazine, which just released its annual ranking of the top moneymakers in music, the Vegas band earned just under $9.5 million in 2013.
This put Imagine Dragons at No. 31 on the list of highest-grossing music acts, ahead of big names such as Jimmy Buffett and Elton John.
The band toured heavily through the year, which accounted for much of their earnings.
In addition, they continued to rack up strong sales for their full-length debut, “Night Visions,” which has gone double platinum and spawned five singles, the biggest of which, “Radioactive,” was the third biggest selling song of 2013, set a Billboard record by staying on the Hot 100 chart for 79 straight weeks and won the band a Grammy for Best Rock Performance.
Looks like the band’s “On Top of the World” was prescient.
