One EDC documentary in the can, another in the works

Next month, a documentary on the Electric Daisy Carnival, “Under the Electric Sky,” will open here in Vegas. (I went to a screening last night. I was the one dude there not in a neon tank top and/or face mask.)

And it looks like another EDC-related movie may soon be in the works.

According to Deadline Hollywood, the Fox 2000 studio recently purchased the rights to “Insomniac: The Life and Times of Pasqualle Rotella,” the forthcoming memoir of the EDC founder that he’s penning with author James Frey, best known for “A Million Little Pieces.”

The book will chronicle Rotella’s rise from early-’90s rave-goer to founder of Insomniac Events, the company behind the Electric Daisy Carnival and one of the biggest brands in electronic dance music.

The film’s producers include Wyck Godfrey and Marty Bown of Temple hill, who also produced the “Twilight” film series.

In the meantime, Rotella will be busy readying this year’s Electric Daisy Carnival, which spans three days beginning June 20 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and is expected to draw 135,000 fans a night.
