Pitbull, Enrique Iglesias bring party to party weekend

For a lot of people, the Super Bowl Saturday night on the Strip just isn’t going to be the same without George Strait.

But those mopers won’t be at Mandalay Bay Events Center. That place will be too crazy trying to keep up with Pitbull and Enrique Iglesias, making sure they “Don’t Stop the Party.”

Based on the first swing through in October, this one is shaping up to be more like another pre-Super Bowl tradition on the Strip, the big UFC fight (this year it’s Anderson Silva versus Nick Diaz at the MGM Grand).

Offstage, Pitbull knows how to work a suit. But the dapper image is in contrast to a show that is “definitely a boxing match,” he noted a few years ago. “I’m coming in to jab, jab, jab, hook and then uppercut. It doesn’t stop.”

“It’s almost like I am a DJ performing a set. I don’t stop to talk. I may stop two or three times in a show and that’s it.”

Not only is Pitbull performing here a lot — he and Iglesias first shared a Las Vegas stage in 2011 — but you soon may see Pitbull’s image next to your favorite bingo parlor. Last fall brought the announcement of his “brand ambassador” partnership with Bally Technologies for a line of Playboy-themed slot machines.
