The Killers earn their first No. 1 record

Updated October 4, 2017 - 8:25 am

“The Man” has swaggered his way to the top of the charts.

Propelled by the aforementioned hit single of their fifth record, The Killers have notched their first No. 1 album with “Wonderful Wonderful,” which debuts at the peak position on this week’s Billboard Top 200 by moving 118,000 album-equivalent units.

Though it’s The Killers’ first time atop the Billboard album chart, it’s not their biggest sales week: 2006’s “Sam’s Town” debuted with a whopping 315,000 copies sold but came in second to Evanescence’s sophomore record, “The Open Door.”

“Wonderful” did best the band’s previous full-length studio release, 2012’s “Battle Born,” which opened with 113,000 units in September 2012.

Copies of “Wonderful Wonderful” were bundled with ticket sales for the band’s upcoming North American tour, which launches in Toronto on Jan. 5 and hits the MGM Grand Garden arena on Feb. 3.

Prior to that, though, The Killers will headline Holiday Havoc Night 2 at The Pearl at the Palms on Dec. 11.
