This just in: Tyga, Drai’s newest resident, actually makes music not just headlines

Tyga has been making some moves, but news about that is buried.

The rapper, who just signed on for a residency at Drai’s, which kicks off with the first date next Sunday, has built up a healthy head of steam, with a new movie (“Dope”), a new album (“The Gold Album: 18th Dynasty”), a new show that’s set to debut in a few weeks on MTV (“Kingin with Tyga”) and new shoe line that will drop this fall.

Yet that’s not the stuff grabbing headlines, at least not as many as the ones speculating about his life offstage, specifically as it pertains to Kylie Jenner. From TMZ wondering aloud if he and Ms. Jenner were getting to know each other in the biblical sense to “In Touch Weekly” skipping that square entirely and asking if Kylie is with child, he has been great fodder for the tabloids.

The speculation, of course, is fueled by the fact that the two have been photographed together frequently. The scrutiny isn’t unwarranted. He’s 25 and she’s not old enough to vote yet, and so there are obviously some legal implications involved if they have indeed taken their friendship to the next level. In fairness, he fanned the flames a bit himself last week by posting a highly sexualized track called “Pleaser,” in which the Kardashian surname is crassly invoked.

Alas, Tyga is in the news again today, but this time, believe it or not, it’s not for that; it’s for something entirely different that doesn’t involve Kylie (well, not directly, although she did happen to be on hand). Last night in Geneva, Switzerland, Tyga was involved in some sort of dust up with the owner of a club he performed at that evening.

The rapper reportedly earned the ire of the Swiss owner by showing up late to the club and then only performing for a very short time, about ten minutes, TMZ reports. The owner then trailed the rapper when he left the club, and that’s when things got out of hand, with somebody in the owner’s camp letting it be known that he was packing.

Nobody was injured, luckily, and Tyga has since responded with a series of Tweets, essentially noting that just because he’s being compensated doesn’t mean that he’s at the owner’s beck and call. He also notes that people have been trying to “tarnish my brand” and “mislead who I am” since he first emerged as an artist, and in the midst of all this attention, he just wants to make music and be creative, out of the spotlight, presumably.

While he’s certainly been plenty creative, you’re not likely to hear much about it, unless it involves a certain young lady who’s 18th birthday is still a few months away.
