Zac Brown Band bustin’ loose at Cosmo
April 26, 2013 - 3:10 am
Their latest album is titled “Uncaged,” but really, what’s ever confined the Zac Brown Band?
“Gonna break these chains holding me,” Brown sings on the album’s title cut, although it’s surely not genre designations that shackle the burly, bearded singer-guitarist who looks like a cross between a grizzly bear and an NFL offensive lineman.
Sure, the group took home the Grammy Award for Best Country Album earlier in the year, but they hardly adhere to Nashville orthodoxy, swirling reggae, rock and jam band trademarks in with their feel-good boosterism.
Alan Jackson and Jimmy Buffett may have already given us “It’s Five O’Clock Somewhere,” but it’s this bunch that aims to set every clock to happy hour.
