Six Picks: Our experts pick their favorites for Aug. 30-Sept. 5

Michael McDonald

You will have to get by with just one “Duke of September” as you say goodbye to this summer. Michael McDonald is on his own this time, but mixes classic R&B covers in with his own hits to carry on the tradition of his “Dukes” tours with fellow blue-eyed soulsters Donald Fagen and Boz Scaggs. He sings at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the Eastside Cannery, 5255 Boulder Highway. Tickets are $35.95-$68.95; call 702-856-5470.

Airbourne

Do you like AC/DC but not the fact that they no longer party so hard that they regurgitate their Fosters all over themselves? Well, then Airbourne is for you. These Aussie hellions sound a whole lot like their elder countrymen with their ribald, free-swinging hard rock bluster. See them on the Rock Allegiance Tour with Volbeat, H.I.M. and All That Remains at 6:45 p.m. Wednesday at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, 4455 Paradise Road. Tickets are $35.50 and $41; call 702-693-5000.

‘Ocean’s Eleven’

Even in Vegas, it’s hard to get much cooler than this. The original “Ocean’s Eleven” — yeah, the one with Frank, Dean, Sammy and the gang — will be projected on the 65-foot digital marquee at the Boulevard Pool at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas, 3708 Las Vegas Blvd. South. Showtime is 10 p.m. Monday. Admission is $3, but premium view lounge chairs and cabana rentals are available for the ultimate cool experience. Or you can just dive in.

‘Suspicious Evidence’

Seeing double? Absolutely — at least at the dual exhibit “Bruner & Bondi: Suspicious Evidence,” featuring digital photographs and mixed media by Ginger Bruner and Anthony Bondi. The two-person show opens at 6 p.m. Thursday at RTZvegas , 1017 S. First St., and continues through Sept. 28; call 702-592-2164 for more information.

Surf and turf

Strip House at Planet Hollywood Resort, 3667 Las Vegas Blvd. South, will celebrate its sixth anniversary, beginning Sunday and extending through the end of September, with an off-the-menu surf-and-turf special. It’s a 6-ounce filet mignon with six shrimp simmered in garlic and butter sauce for $52. For reservations, call 702-737-5200.

Afrojack

On Labor Day Monday, big names in electronic dance music will provide the soundtrack to your lives at day pools and nightclubs. Afrojack and David Guetta team up in the daytime at Encore Beach Club, then again at night at XS nightclub at the Wynn. And check out our definitive club listings to see where you can party Monday with Steve Aoki, Tiesto, Sander van Doorn, and Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano.
