'Old' guys country-rock

Who was that old coot at the Route 91 Harvest festival? Gary Allan just turned 48, which practically made him George Jones alongside Thomas Rhett or Lady Antebellum. But it's a testament to Allan's staying power that he is already back in town for two National Finals Rodeo nights at the Hard Rock Hotel. Clare Dunn and Tara Thomson open at 9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday. Tickets are $39.50-$125; call 888-929-7849.

Devil loses again

Bull riders face ornery opponents at the National Finals Rodeo, but Charlie Daniels has been taking on the Devil in a fiddlin' match every year (as far as we know) since the NFR first came to town in 1985. This year he is at The Orleans for 7 p.m. shows Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $33-$55; call 702-365-7075.

Not just country-funny

"Texas" doesn't necessarily mean "country." Ron White's Lone Star state of mind hits home with rodeo fans, but his boozy outlook fits Las Vegas any time of year. See him at 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday at The Mirage. Tickets are $75.84-$100; call 702-792-7777.

Filipino Christmas

They call him the "Concert King" in the Philippines, but Las Vegans know Martin Nievera's voice and showmanship transcend geography and that he can handle either a standard or a pop ballad. That makes him a good choice for a holiday-spiced concert at 7 p.m. Saturday at the M Resort. Tickets are $38-$52; call 800-745-3000.

The first 'Voice'

Well, somebody had to go first. Given the hype and curiosity surrounding the first season of "The Voice," it was good for the gospel voice of Tarralyn Ramsey to be the very first to make Christina Aguilera spin her chair. Ramsey is now doing her "Christmas Spectacular" at 4 p.m. Tuesdays to Saturdays through Dec. 30 at the Tommy Wind Theater. Tickets are $39-$49; call 702-895-9787.
