Social Bistro & Wine Bar is a place to eat, drink and be merry at Tivoli

Social Bistro & Wine Bar brings a sense of California to the Las Vegas suburbs and Tivoli Village. Inside, diners will find contemporary chic elements such as a granite bar, dark wood flooring, vanilla-colored padded seats and, on the TV wall, some sparkling bling.

Have a front row seat to watch the chefs prepare your meal and watch artisan pizzas baking in the giant oven. Social has seating for about 80 inside, and patio diners look out on the commons.

The menu forwards its concept of being a spot where people come to be — what else? — social. Social Plates are appetizer portions that are meant to be shared. They include Boom Boom shrimp with sweet chili and spicy aioli, pulled pork sliders with onion straws, lobster macaroni and cheese, crispy calamari, and housemade meatballs and mashed potatoes. Small plates are $9 to $13.

Salad varieties include the pear and Gorgonzola with candied walnuts and balsamic dressing, the classic Caesar, grilled veggie salad, kale salad, Mediterranean sprinkled with feta, grilled salmon spinach and citrus, and barbecue chicken.

Craving a burger instead? The signature Social Burger has caramelized onions, organic mushrooms and truffle goat cheese. There’s also a Chicken & Brie sandwich, grilled rosemary chicken sandwich, and Brie & Bacon sandwich. The oven-roasted portobello sandwich includes roma tomatoes, mozzarella, mixed greens and aioli. Burgers and sandwiches are $10 to $14.

Entrees (available after 4:30 p.m.) are priced around $30 and include pan-seared king salmon, ahi tuna nicoise, Colorado prime rib, lamb shank, free range chicken, chicken pasta, and linguine and clams. There are four type of flat breads and 13 types of Social Pies that can be had in the personal pizza size ($9 to $11) or 14 inches ($15 to $18). Pizza choices include the California (pepperoni, bacon, spinach, tomato and mozzarella), barbecue chicken (tomatoes, red onion, Gouda, cilantro and mozzarella), Meat Lover (pepperoni, ground beef, sweet Italian sausage, bacon, mushrooms, red onion and Kalamata olives), chicken queso Alfredo (grilled chicken, chicken sausage and zucchini) and chipotle shrimp (spinach, cream sauce, garlic shrimp, cranberries, goat cheese and mild chipotle sauce).

Happy hour (known here as Social Hour) is from 4 to 6 p.m. daily and features half off all draft beer, house wines and specialty cocktails (The Coming Up Roses cocktail is normally $12 and has Lillet Rose Aperitif, elderflower, fresh lemon and raspberries and le grand courtage brut rose). During Social Hour, flat breads, sliders and ahi tuna stacks also are half off.

On Tuesdays, bottles of wine are half off all day, and Saturdays feature $4 house sangria from noon to 4 p.m.

Social Bistro & Wine Bar is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday through Tuesday and 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday.

People have a lot of opinions on pizza, but given that Americans could eat up to 180 slices in a year, it only makes sense that all details are considered when choosing a go-to local spot.
