Judging by its record-breaking box-office receipts, you wouldn’t think there was anyone in America who hadn’t seen “Jurassic World.” But Indominus rex and the rest of the prehistoric beasties are expected to run right over this week’s newcomers, including “Inside Out,” only the second non-sequel from Disney/Pixar since 2009’s “Up.”
Here’s a look at this week’s new releases, “Inside Out,” “Dope” and “Felix & Meira”:
INSIDE OUT: A young girl’s emotions — Joy (voiced by Amy Poehler), Fear (Bill Hader), Anger (Lewis Black), Disgust (Mindy Kaling) and Sadness (Phyllis Smith) — are the stars of the latest animated offering from Disney/Pixar. At multiple locations (102 min.) PG; mild thematic elements and some action.
DOPE: A chance invitation to an underground party turns three inner-city friends who’ve patterned their lives around ‘90s hip-hop into Internet drug kingpins in this Sundance hit. At multiple locations. (103 min.) R for language, drug content, sexuality/nudity, and some violence-all involving teens.
FELIX & MEIRA: A Hasidic Jewish wife and mother (Hadas Yaron) and a secular loner (Martin Dubreuil) forge an unconventional romance in a Montreal neighborhood. In French with English subtitles. At Village Square. (106 min.) R; a scene of sexuality/nudity.
