Vdara enters pool party fray with Abbey Beach, catering to gays, lesbians
September 2, 2010 - 11:00 pm
Vdara at CityCenter, 2600 W. Harmon Ave., is the latest resort to dive into the Strip pool party trend with Abbey Beach.
Each Sunday, through Sept. 26, the new resort will host an upscale pool party for the local gay and lesbian community and hotel guests, says the hotel's general manager, Mary Giuliano.
The hotel partnered with local party planner Eduardo Cordova and the Abbey Food and Bar, a popular gay and lesbian restaurant/bar in West Hollywood, Calif. Employees from the Abbey -- including the Abbey Boys, the club's resident DJs and its bartenders -- occasionally will staff the Las Vegas pool party. Cover charge is $10 for locals, $20 for others. Hotel guests get in free. All pool party guests must be over 21.
Eight daybeds are available starting at $200 each; 19 cabanas offering the pool party staples start at $300 each. Bottle service costs between $200 and $350, while the average price of a cocktail is $10.
Abbey Beach hours are from noon to 6 p.m. every Sunday except this weekend, when the party will take place Monday.
