Wanna be in Vegas movies? Here’s your chance

Well, it’s official. Casting agents are literally “discovering” people in Vegas, because Hollywood has officially descended on Vegas to shoot three on-location movies at the same time.

“I chased down this woman who’s a housekeeper at the hotel I’m staying in Henderson, because her voice was so ridiculously interesting. I was begging her to read for me,” a casting director said to me.

That casting director, John Jackson, has picked quite a few people for big movies including “Nebraska,” “Sideways” and all of Alexander Payne’s other films.

Jackson is in Vegas to help cast an Eli Roth/Colleen Camp-produced ghost thriller, co-written by Roth (“Hemlock Grove”), Nicolas Lopez (“Aftershock”) and Las Vegas-raised director Jessica Chandler.

And get this. You, yes you, can be in this movie.

“Right now, we’re casting for principal speaking roles in the film, and I would like to use as many local actors and non-actors as I can find,” Jackson said.

“I need two little girls — one 6-years-old, one 8-years-old — I need college students, people in (their) 60s and 70s, all races, all types of individuals.”

There are 37 speaking roles. Some are filled. Many are not.

“I don’t care if you’ve ever acted before in your life. I don’t care if you’re a rancher,” he said.

He has specific interest in “boaters who grew up on the water of Lake Mead, or Native American people, or somebody in their 70s who’s been fishing at Lake Mead every Saturday for the last 40 years.”

Time is of the essence. Act now. Etc.

All you have to do is email a new photo and your name to lakemead.casting@gmail.com.

The movie doesn’t have a title yet.

So to recap, this means “Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2” is on location at the Wynn; Dakota Fanning and Evan Rachel Wood are filming an ’80s punk rock movie downtown; and there’s a Roth/Camp/Lopez ghost thriller starting principle photography May 5 in and around our natural habitats.

“I’m so excited to be doing this at a time when there’s so much going on here. It’s really very cool,” Jackson said.

“I’ve been to Vegas a lot to work and play, and I’ve never left the Strip. So what’s interesting to me about this is, it’s not only showing a completely different side of this area, it’s showing me as a tourist and as a casting person to put on a completely different Vegas world.

“Plus, I get to live in Nevada for two months.”

If somehow you are not familiar with horror master Eli Roth, here’s the trailer for his upcoming film.
