Hawaiian family finds Summerlin home

The Paseos village in the master-planned community of Summerlin offers some of the most scenic home sites in the community thanks to the village’s elevated location west of the 215 Beltway at the base of Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. With expansive valley views to the east and mountain views to the west, it’s no wonder that so many families continue to put down roots in The Paseos in neighborhoods like Savona by Woodside Homes and Estrella by Pulte Homes.

Tyler and Katie Hollingsworth, along with children Ryan and Ava, moved to Estrella earlier this year from Oahu, Hawaii, where they had enjoyed living near the beach for more than two years. Katie, who initially made the move begrudgingly, has once again found paradise in Summerlin.

“I had a really hard adjustment from Hawaii to Las Vegas for obvious reasons like the differences in climate and culture,” Katie said. “But once I saw Estrella, it was love at first sight,” she said. “I love our interior and exterior view from every angle, and I especially appreciate the open floor plan and great room, which allows our family to engage in conversation and be together, no matter what we are all doing.”

Homes at Estrella include both single- and two-story floor plans with front-yard landscaping included. They range from 2,058 to 2,455 square feet and are priced from the mid-$300,000s. Estrella offers single-story and two-story floor plans with up to four bedrooms and up to 2½ bathrooms. Larger models include 10-foot ceiling heights, formal dining room, courtyard, covered loggia and three-car tandem garage.

All Estrella homes include Pulte’s signature Life Tested living spaces and come standard with several significant energy-saving features. These include 15 SEER-rated air-conditioning systems, Low-E dual pane windows with vinyl frames, water-efficient toilets, 95 percent energy-efficient gas furnace, Rheem tankless water heater and digital programmable thermostat. Carbon monoxide detectors are also standard.

Nearby in The Paseos village, Savona offers four stylish floor plans ranging from 2,092 to 3,220 square feet on expansive lots from 6,000 to 15,000 square feet, priced from the high $400,000s. Located directly across from a developing 14-acre community park and future public elementary school that will open in 2017, Savona is a strong draw for families seeking immediate access to educational and recreational opportunities. The neighborhood connects to Summerlin’s award-winning trail system and nearby Paseos Park. It is just minutes from the 215 Beltway and Downtown Summerlin, the 106-acre fashion, dining and entertainment center in the heart of the community.

Savona’s two-story flexible floor plans offer three to five bedrooms and as many as five bathrooms. One floor plan offers a multigenerational suite and even a home theater. Design features include gourmet kitchens; oversized showers in the master bath; multiple storage spaces; porches, courtyards and covered patios; paver stone driveways, walkways and loggias; and entry foyers with elevated ceilings. Two-story floor plans include three-car garages. These homes are built under Woodside Homes’ Environments for Living program, which creates more energy-efficient, comfortable and durable homes than conventional code-built homes. Savona homes exceed Energy Star standards by 15 percent.

“Homes at both Estrella and Savona are designed for today’s growing and evolving modern families that no longer fit the traditional mold,” said Danielle Bisterfeldt, vice president of marketing for Summerlin. “Woodside Homes and Pulte Homes have long track records creating comfortable living spaces for families of all sizes, including extended families to accommodate grandparents, visiting relatives and even boomerang children returning home.”
