The Providence Master Planned Community celebrates 10 years of milestones

It’s a decade to remember for Providence as it celebrates its 10th anniversary Saturday with free festivities for all ages at its three neighborhood parks.

Community milestones are being featured in a walking timeline at the Promenade Park, along with cake and ice cream hosted by PD, Providence’s lovable 7-foot-tall canine mascot. In addition to the northwest Las Vegas community consistently being among the fastest-selling communities in Nevada and the country, some of the other accomplishments contributing to Providence becoming a place that many call home include:

■ 2006: The first homes close in December.

■ 2007: The first two families take up residence in March.

■ 2008: The Promenade Park opens. The community receives national recognition by the Modular Building Institute (MBI) with an Award of Distinction for its Information Center.

■ 2009: Bozarth Elementary School opens in August.

■ 2010: Providence launches its Facebook page and Twitter account in July to provide information about community events, photo albums and news affecting the community.

■ 2011: Knickerbocker Park opens. PD, Providence’s lovable 7-foot canine mascot, is introduced.

■ 2012: Home sales in Providence reach 2,695.

■ 2014: 4,328 homes in Providence are sold.

■ 2015: Huckleberry Park opens.

■ 2016: With 5,132 homes sold, the community celebrates 10 years of Providence Pride.

The Providence Pride — A Decade to Remember celebration will be from noon to 6 p.m. Attendees can enjoy carnival-themed festivities at Huckleberry Park with carnival rides, contests, a DJ and eight food trucks. Wristbands for the carnival rides are $8 per person. At Knickerbocker Park, popular bands Ashley Red and Blue String Theory will be performing; and there is a beer and wine garden, barbecue food vendor Smoken Sam’s, and games, including giant Jenga, Connect Four and Corn Hole.

Shuttles are available and will stop at each park. Attendees also can follow directional signage throughout the community or visit the information tent at each park.

Providence residents enjoy three parks, wide tree-lined streets, and miles of walking trails and bike paths, neighborhood and nearby schools, and convenient access to shopping, dining, job opportunities and the I-215 Beltway and U.S. Highway 95, making traveling throughout the Las Vegas Valley convenient. Mount Charleston, Kyle Canyon and Red Rock Canyon are only a few miles away. In addition, the active Providence Master Homeowners Association hosts a variety of cultural, social and educational events for all ages in keeping with the community’s spirit of bringing people together.

Providence is in northwest Las Vegas off of the I-215 North Beltway and Hualapai Way. For more information, visit the community’s information center at 7181 N. Hualapai Way, Ste. 150, and providencelv.com or call 702-433-5084.
