Drunk man wanders into shipping crate, nearly shipped across ocean

A night of drinking in Qingdao, China landed a man in a random shipping container headed on a two-week trip across the Pacific Ocean to Los Angeles.
Jiang Wu reportedly wandered into a shipping container, mistaking it for the Eastern China bed and breakfast where he was staying, and fell asleep inside of it.
Upon waking up, Wu realized he was trapped in a sealed container that had been loaded aboard a cargo ship set for the two-week journey. He used his cell phone to call friends and police for help.
“His problem was, though, that he couldn’t tell us which container he was in and there were thousands of them stacked on top of each other,” a police spokesman Fairfax NZ News.
Wu was eventually tracked down by police by the hammering sounds he made on the container’s metal side. The container was stacked 60 feet in the air, reported the Daily Star.
“He’s very lucky,” a docker in Qingdao told the Daily Star. “If he’d been asleep for another hour the next stop would have been America.”
