Take a look at the season’s hottest beauty trends
November 3, 2011 - 1:02 am
Well, the '60s still are influencing your look, but now the beauty industry is going from the early part of that decade into the latter part. That means bouffants, frosty pink lips and loads of liner. The biggest trend of the season, however, will have you really coating on the mascara. Get rid of your falsies. Clumpy lashes, no matter the length, are all the rage. It's a very affordable way to update your look for fall.
Other hot trends include the bold brow, Brooke Shields style, updos and metallic eyes. Take a gander at the beauty trends and pick the ones that work for you. Have fun getting gorgeous for fall.
Take a Brow
The brows are big and bold this season. Get ready to fill, fill, fill with the help of a pencil, wax or powder filler. Be careful to follow your natural brow line or it could get clownish.
Lashing Out
No need to painstakingly separate clumps anymore. Spider legs, a la Twiggy, were a favorite at Lanvin, Gucci, Versace and Valentino. This could be fall's hottest trend.
Seeing Red
The "Mad Men" trend refuses to go away as runways at Ralph Lauren, Emanuel Ungaro and Diane von Furstenberg proved. It's matte and it's a daring red. Pucker up!
Bouffant Bonanza
Fall runways turned up the volume with the help of a handy comb. Get ready to tease away to add inches to your height and wow to your hairstyle.
Draw the Line
You can't have '60s bouffants without a thick line across the eyes. Marc Jacobs and Jil Sander both gave this trend a nod. Liquid liner will help you master your lining skills best.
Slick Move
The slicked back, wet look made a splash on fall runways. You can take it all back the way Jennifer Lopez loved to do 10 years ago or just smooth back the sides.
Heavy Metal
Hey bright eyes, get ready for some sparkle. Your lids are going to look like a '70s disco, covered in metallic, like models at Roberto Cavalli, Chanel and Rodarte sported.
Pony Up
The ponytail took different shapes on Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Balmain runways, be it low-slung, high and mighty or creatively twisted and turned.
Up, Up, Away
Updos are making a comeback. Look out for everything from the classic french twist to arrangements that truly make your head look like a work of art.
More Bounce
The ultimate blowout always gives your locks a good bounce. The clean, fresh-from-the-salon look is sure to turn heads this fall. Keep some dry shampoo handy for this one.
Flawless Face
A focus on perfect skin is, once again, in. Stella McCartney and Nina Ricci's runways used contouring to make skin look ideal. We credit the obsession with anti-aging products for this one.
Braid Brigade
There's a certain sweetness to this hair trend, no matter how it's presented. Loose and to the side, french, or tight and low -- it's all sugary sweet to us.
Pretty in Pink
Yet another '60s trend: pink matte lips. We're not sure how this one will fit in with the rich fall hues, but it definitely lines up with the rest of fall's beauty trends.
