Heart & Stroke Walk accepting registration
Registration is open for teams and individuals who want to join the 2017 Las Vegas Heart & Stroke Walk, which kicks off at 8 a.m. Sept. 30 at the Fremont Street Experience, 425 Fremont St. The American Heart Association event includes a 5k timed run, the “Miracle Mile,” a 1-mile walk for survivors and the 5k walk. The event will include health screenings, live entertainment and food. Register at lasvegasheartwalk.org.
Hospital set to host two cardiac seminars
Desert Springs Hospital, 2075 E. Flamingo Road, will host two lunch and learn seminars focused on cardiac health. They will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday and Sept. 19 and will feature a heart-healthy lunches and health tips. Reserve a spot by calling 702-902-1700.
Registration open for October Kidney Walk
Registration is available for the third annual Las Vegas Kidney Walk, hosted by the National Kidney Foundation, which will step off at 10:30 a.m. Oct. 22 at UNLV. More than 900 people are expected to the noncompetitive 5k walk, which is open to all ages. Register at donate.kidney.org or on event day beginning at 9 a.m.
Lunch & Learn series meets Wednesdays
The Cleveland Clinic Lou Ruvo Center for Brain Health, 888 W. Bonneville Ave., hosts the Lunch & Learn Educational Series from noon to 1 p.m. each Wednesday in August. Participants are encouraged to bring lunch; drinks and dessert will be provided. This week’s program is “Brain Imaging 101: Understanding What the Doctor Sees Matters,” and will address the differences between PET/CT and MRI procedures and discuss why and how imaging is an important component of a care plan.
