At least two Las Vegas stores has been was affected by a Tuesday peanut and almond butters recall after reports of possible salmonella contamination.

Nut butter products made by nSPIRED Natural Foods, Inc., which includes peanut and almond butters labeled as Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods Market, Kroger, MaraNatha and Arrowhead Mills, were recalled the company said.

Staff from the Whole Foods on Las Vegas Boulevard on Tuesday confirmed that they discarded six jars of peanut or almond butter.

A spokeswoman for Trader Joe’s said that their raw almond butter in Las Vegas stores was the only product affected by this recall.

nSPIRED initiated a voluntary recall after the U.S. Food and Drug Administration brought “potential risk” to the company’s attention following routine testing. The company also received reports of four cases of illness that could be linked to these specific products.

The company has asked customers to trash the products, according to a news release posted on the Food and Drug Administration website.

Salmonella can weaken immune systems causing symptoms that include fever, diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. It could be fatal for children and elderly people, the company said.

The recall affects products distributed across the U.S., Canada, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates and the Dominican Republic and was done with the FDA’s knowledge, nSPIRED said.
