Readers capture the fun, beauty of the season

Spring in Las Vegas is a short season. One day the roses are blooming and gentle breezes blowing, but the next, we're all locked away in our air-conditioned homes to wait out a scorching summer.

Still, more than 70 readers were able to capture their vision of springtime in the desert for our spring photo contest. The quality of the photos we received was high, which made our job -- to select a winner and recipient of the $100 prize -- tough.

There were kids frolicking in sprinklers, puppies playing by the swimming pool. Butterflies on flowers and blooms in every color were well-represented in the photos we received. One reader captured a magnificent rainbow arching across the sky after a spring shower.

In the end, we were enchanted with winner Lindsay Williamson's photo of her daughter, Savanna Grace, in front of a blooming purple leaf plum tree in the backyard of their Henderson home.

Thanks go out to all who shared their photos with us.
