Fishing Report, Nov. 29

■ LAKE MEAD - Striper fishing has proven successful in the past week. Many anglers have been using Kastmasters in the 1- to 4-ounce range, depending on the depth they have been trying to achieve. Reports are that shad are hanging out in the 6- to 8-foot depth in the Vegas Wash area. Kingman Wash and Callville Bay are providing good action along the points.

■ LAKE MOHAVE - Striper action has slowed considerably at Cottonwood Cove, but a couple of miles north of Nevada Bay, the fish are taking anchovies. While they might not be found in large numbers, they are good-sized fish. In a bit of a twist for Lake Mohave, the fish are focused on shad. Mohave is not known for holding large numbers of shad. Near Willow Beach, anglers reportedly have caught stripers in the 10- to 15-pound class while using AC Plugs and trout imitations.

■ COLORADO RIVER (Laughlin) - A father-son team caught several large stripers last week that weighed 13 to 18½ pounds. They used lures between Davis Dam and Casino Row. Another angler caught a 7½-pound rainbow trout in the same area.

■ URBAN PONDS - Sunset Park is scheduled for trout stocking this week. The fish will come from the Spring Creek rearing station near Baker. The Nevada Department of Wildlife will begin its regular stocking regimen next week, with fish coming from the Mason Valley hatchery near Yerington. All Las Vegas urban fishing ponds except those in Lorenzi Park will receive fish.

■ KIRCH WILDLIFE MANAGEMENT AREA - Fishing has been slow on all reservoirs. Anglers are finding the most success at Cold Springs Reservoir and are catching rainbows in the 10- to 12-inch range. Woolly Buggers and spinners are catching the fish. The reservoirs have little to no ice, and water temperatures range from 50 to 60 degrees.

■ EAGLE VALLEY RESERVOIR - Rainbow and tiger trout are providing good action for anglers using PowerBait, small spinners or flies. The lake remains ice free.

■ ECHO CANYON RESERVOIR - The reservoir still is ice free, but that could change with the arrival of colder temperatures predicted for the weekend. Rainbow trout have been hitting on PowerBait, worms and small spinners. The crappie and bass seem to have shut down.
