Son gives dad ‘57 Chevy on 57th birthday, as promised when 8

Father’s day is right around the corner (Sunday, June 15, for those of you who tend to forget), but whatever you gift dad this year might not beat this birthday gift.

An 8-year-old boy’s father, a child of a poor family, spoke often of his dream car — a ‘57 Chevy Bel-Air. So, his son made a promise that for his father’s 57th birthday, he’d fulfill his father’s dream of cruising around in that classic ride.

And, well, as an adult, he delivered. The Louisville, Kentucky man, under the username “Belairboy” on reddit, posted a video of his dad’s reaction to getting the car. When you watch this video, you’ll really want to do something nice for you dad.

The man said he worked “60 hours over 6 days a week” to afford the car. He had a little help from his dad by showing him listings of the model online in a wishful-thinking sense. He wrote, “He would get so excited and talk about owning something like that but that he ‘knew he never would be able to,’ little did he know….”

One reddit commenter wrote, “As a father, the most touching part for me is the promise of an 8-year-old boy fulfilled. Man, for your dad to see that car in the garage, just like you told him it would be … I guarantee he was instantly transported back to see that little 8-year-old kid in you.”
