‘Springtime in Paris’ event benefits Dress for Success

Dress for Success, a group of volunteers committed to helping women along paths to professional and economic independence, raised funds with a reception and silent auction followed by “Springtime in Paris” luncheon and fashion show at Paris Las Vegas on April 5.

Olivia Fierro, KVVU-TV, Channel 5 news anchor, served as mistress of ceremonies and greeted 320 guests.

Dress for Success Southern Nevada board chairwoman Shelli Ryan and executive director Paula Lawrence said the group served more than 300 women last year. Many of the women were single mothers who live below the poverty line and were referred by agencies such as Shade Tree, the Urban League and the Foundation for an Independent Tomorrow.

Many thanks went to founder and board member Paige Candee and early corporate sponsors Caesars Entertainment Corp., Wells Fargo and the Nakazaki Family.

Seen among the guests were Judy Fara, Billie Wilson, Janice Wilson, Linda Gonzales and Bridget Richards.

The three-course luncheon included salad, breast of chicken with brioche and praline chocolate mousse. The program included client success stories and entertainment by vocalist Gail Beckman, the French Gypsy Dancers and Anthem Jazz Dance Group.

The Champagne luncheon featured a special fashion show of world renowned hat designer Louisa Voisine. Judyann Price of Louisa Voisine Millinery introduced Louisa Voisine. A 21-year resident of Las Vegas, she worked in the film industry in Los Angeles and traveled throughout Europe spending most of her time in Paris.

Her exquisite one-of-a-kind hats and her fashions by Mickey Lou Designs were modeled by volunteers Anna Dreibelbis, Frankie Marshall, Janay Oakland, Chelsea Hodge, Carolin Feigs, April Alder, Elizabeth Mercado, DeAndre Green, Sabrina Singh, Randi Sundquist, Brooke Allen-Burnstein, Shana Dahan, MaryAnn Foreman, Rochelle Wolfe, Luella Chavez, Shannon Galbraith and Danica Stockton.
