Wannabe pirates get boats ready for festival — VIDEO

People gathered at Zappos’ corporate headquarters in downtown Las Vegas to build cardboard boats in advance of the third annual Pirate Fest.

The festival, which is scheduled to take place April 10-12 at Lorenzi Park, 3343 W. Washington Ave., features various events, including the cardboard regatta, where people will put their cardboard creations to the test in the water.

The Thursday event featured supplies and a space for participants to get their boats started, as well as instruction and assistance from Pirate Fest founder Rich Strelak.
