Vice President Joe Biden, a longtime advocate of women’s rights, will visit UNLV next week to tout a White House initiative aimed at preventing campus sexual assaults.

The Nevada stop is part of a multicity tour to promote the “It’s On Us” campaign, aimed to raise awareness about sex abuse in campus communities nationwide.

As the author of the 1994 Violence Against Women Act, Biden intends to leave a legacy as a protector of battered women.

Biden will also visit the University of Pittsburgh and University of Colorado, Boulder.

UNLV officials said Biden will visit the campus April 7. No other details were available Tuesday.
