CARSON CITY — A state panel approved a contract Tuesday for an architectural firm to design and provide construction administration services for a medical education building at UNLV.
The Board of Examiners, including Gov. Brian Sandoval, approved the contract with Tate Snyder Kimsey Architects to perform the work at a cost of $14.4 million. The contract requires approval from the Legislature’s Interim Finance Committee, which meets next week.
The Nevada Legislature this year appropriated $25 million in matching funds for the new medical education building after an anonymous $25 million donation for the project.
Total construction costs for the building are estimated at a minimum of $100 million.
The medical school’s charter class of 60 students began studies in July.
