Gas leak causes outage in Henderson

Updated September 29, 2017 - 7:21 am

More than 2,000 Southwest Gas Corp. customers in Henderson abruptly lost service Wednesday after a gas leak was discovered in the area.

The outage started about 11:30 a.m. Wednesday after a leak was found near Wigwam Parkway and Jessup Road in Henderson, company spokeswoman Sonya Headen said. The line was repaired just after midnight.

The leak affected 2,080 customers in the area. Technicians began restoring natural gas service about 7 a.m. Thursday. By about 6 p.m., about 1,575 customers had service restored.

The company has resources from Arizona and Southern California working to restore service.

Hot showers are available at the Henderson Multigenerational Center, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway, for people affected by the outage. They should use the code “Southwest Gas.”
