1 dead after stabbing at Las Vegas apartment complex early Wednesday
A man was arrested in connection with a fatal stabbing that occurred at a central valley apartment complex early Wednesday morning, Las Vegas police said.
Gianni Raneri, 29, of Las Vegas, was booked into the Clark County Detention Center where he faces one charge of first-degree murder with a deadly weapon.
Police received the call a little before 1 a.m. to the Shelter Island Apartments, 3770 Swenson St., near Tropicana Avenue, Metro Lt. David Gordon said. A man was found suffering from a stab wound. He was taken to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, but did not survive.
Responding officers discovered that a security guard saw the suspect fleeing the scene. The security guard took the suspect into custody a short distance away and turned him over to police.
Detectives found that the man who was killed was walking through the complex with another person when they were approached by the suspect, police said. After a brief argument, the parties separated, but the suspect confronted the victim and the other individual once again several hours later, when the man was stabbed.
The man's identity will be released by the Clark County coroner's office after his family has been notified. This is the 136th homicide investigated by the Metro in 2015.
