1 injured in possible hit-and-run near Jones, Tropicana

A pedestrian is in serious condition after a possible hit-and-run in the central Las Vegas Valley Friday morning.

Just before 5 a.m. Las Vegas police received calls of a person in the street who may have been hit by a vehicle near the intersection of Tropicana Avenue and Jones Boulevard, Metro Lt. Rick Given said.

The driver of the vehicle suspected of hitting the pedestrian was not at the scene when officers arrived, police said.

The pedestrian was taken to University Medical Center in serious condition, Given said.

Roads closed during the investigation of this incident reopened just before 7 a.m., according to the Regional Transportation Commission.
