1 killed in crash on Smoke Ranch near Decatur

A 20-year-old woman was killed and a passenger was injured in a single-vehicle rollover near the intersection of Smoke Ranch Road and Decatur Boulevard on Thursday, according to LasVegas police.

First responders were called to Smoke Ranch west of the Decatur intersection about 7:15 a.m., police said in a news release.

The woman who died was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer when she lost control and the vehicle slid off the roadway and struck a wall, police said. The Blazer then overturned on the driver’s side and the driver was ejected.

Metro Sgt. Richard Strader at the scene said the driver had been speeding.

The driver and her 21-year-old passenger were taken to University Medical Center, police said. The driver died and the passenger suffered moderate injuries.
