12-year-old on bicycle hit by vehicle in southwest valley

A 12-year-old boy on a bicycle was in “extremely critical” condition Friday night after being hit by a vehicle in the southwest valley, according to Las Vegas police.

First responders were called about 8:30 p.m. to the area of Jones Boulevard and Russell Road, Metro Lt. Yaz Yatomi said.

An initial report suggests that the 12-year-old boy was on a crosswalk, but riding his bicycle, Lt. Erik Lloyd said.

Investigators were trying to determine who was at fault and will release that information at a later time.

The area where the bicyclist was struck is the same area where a 15-year-old boy was also hit by a vehicle Thursday night.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
