A 16-year-old boy was the victim of a possible gang-related drive-by shooting Friday night.

While walking through a parking lot near East Sahara Avenue and South Maryland Parkway, a dark-colored vehicle approached the boy. A person inside the vehicle shot him in the leg about 8:43 p.m, police said.

The boy was transported to University Medical Center with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Metro’s gang detectives are investigating the shooting.

The shooter was unknown to the boy, police said.
