19-year-old injured in Friday DUI crash dies at hospital

The 19-year-old man injured in an early Friday morning DUI crash has died, Las Vegas police said.

Francis Manalo was driving east on Charleston Boulevard when his 2008 Kia Rondo was struck from behind by another vehicle.

The driver of the other vehicle, 45-year-old Paul Adams, tried to run away, but was caught by an off-duty security guard who detained him until police arrived.

Adams failed a field sobriety test and was booked into the Clark County Detention Center on one count of driving under the influence resulting in substantial bodily harm and a felony hit-and-run charge.

Manalo was taken to the University Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and died Saturday.

This is the 58th traffic-related death the Metropolitan Police Department has investigated in 2016.
