2 dead in murder-suicide, Metro says

Two people are dead in what Las Vegas police say appears to be a murder-suicide in the southwest valley.

Officers were called to conduct a welfare check in the 5200 block of South Torrey Pines Drive, near the intersection at Hacienda Avenue, about 8:22 a.m Wednesday and discovered the bodies, police said.

The man and woman, whom police said were husband and wife, were dead of apparent gunshot wounds, Metro said in a news release Wednesday evening.

“It appears the female shot the male victim with a handgun and then turned the gun on herself,” the release said.

The identities of the man and woman will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office after their families have been notified.

Metro said this is the 36th homicide in its jurisdiction this year.

Anyone with information about the deaths is urged to call Metro’s homicide section at 702-828-3521 or email homicide@lvmpd.com. To remain anonymous, call Crime Stoppers at 702-385-5555 or visit www.crimestoppersofnv.com.
