2 killed in crash at Spring Mountain at Lindell

A four-car collision in the Chinatown area killed two people Friday.

It happened about 5:45 a.m. when a 2011 Hyundai Sonata headed west on Spring Mountain Road veered into oncoming traffic near Lindell Road, Las Vegas police said. It slammed into a 2014 Ford Transit Connect cab. The crash sent the two cars spinning, and they hit two more vehicles.

The 55-year-old cab driver, who was not identified by gender, was not carrying any passengers and died at the scene, police said. The 23-year-old woman driving the Hyundai was taken to University Medical Center, where she died.

Both drivers will be identified by the Clark County coroner’s office after their families have been notified.

The other two drivers involved in the crash, 27- and 45-year-old women, were not hurt, police said.

Spring Mountain was closed from Lindell to Jones Boulevard for more than seven hours, police said. It reopened about 1 p.m.,

These were the 31st and 32nd traffic-related fatalities in Metro’s jurisdiction this year.
