2 motorcyclists seriously injured in Friday night crash

A man and a teenager were seriously injured Friday night when their motorcycle crashed with a sport utility vehicle, Las Vegas police said.

According to Metro, about 7:15 p.m., a 2004 Kawasaki motorcycle was heading east on West Vegas Drive. A 2005 Ford Escape turned left from the Shell Gas Station at 7951 W. Vegas Dr., at the intersection with North Cimarron Road. The Kawasaki then struck the front of the Ford, Metro said in a news release.

The motorcycle operator, 26-year-old Mario Kehrt of Las Vegas, and his passenger, 19-year-old Kelsy Arlitz of Las Vegas, were ejected from the vehicle. Kehrt suffered serious injuries and Arlitz suffered life-threatening injuries, the release said. Both were taken to University Medical Center.

The driver of the Ford, 64-year-old William Schulte, remained at the scene with his 15-year-old passenger, Metro said. Neither were injured.

The collision remains under investigation.
