2 shot dead in downtown incident Monday night

A man and a woman were shot dead Monday night in a downtown neighborhood, Las Vegas police said.

At 7:20 p.m. Metro officers, responding to a report of shots fired, found a man with a gunshot wound in an apartment at 2117 Ballard Drive, southwest of the intersection of Charleston Boulevard and Fremont Street. He later died at a hospital.

About 10 minutes later, Metro received a report of a woman who had been shot and was inside a parked car at 2490 Fremont St. She was dead.

Police are seeking a man described as black, 6-feet-2-inches tall and wearing a red hoodie sweatshirt who was seen running away from the car, said Lt. David Gordon.

The dead man and woman were "in a domestic relationship, but the incident is not believed to be domestic-related,' Gordon said.
