3 killed in early morning accident on 215 Beltway

Three people who were not wearing seat belts died in a crash on the Las Vegas Beltway in the north valley Monday morning, according to Nevada Highway Patrol.

The two-vehicle crash happened about 5 a.m. The male driver of a blue Mazda sedan traveling east on the beltway near Fifth Street lost control of his vehicle and overcorrected, causing him to cross the center median, NHP said. He crashed into a gold Cadillac Escalade traveling west, which caught on fire.

The Cadillac driver, a 59-year-old man, was not wearing a seat belt, NHP reported. He was thrown from the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Mazda driver, a 56-year-old man, and a passenger in the Cadillac were also pronounced dead at the scene. They were also not wearing seatbelts, NHP reported.

The Clark County coroner’s office will identify the dead.
