3 men injured in pit bull attacks

Three pit bulls jumped a six-foot fence and attacked and hurt three men in Pahrump on Friday, according to the Nye County’s Sheriff’s office.

Officers were called to a landlord and tenant two-home property at 1091 Black Street about noon, police said.

The 40-year-old dog owner and tenant, Ricky Davidson, was arrested and faces multiple charges for keeping a vicious dog resulting in substantial bodily harm, police said. He was booked into the Nye County Detention Center.

A neighbor arrived to feed the owner’s cats when Davidson’s three dogs jumped the fence and began “brutally” attacking one man, who sustained critical injuries.

When he began screaming, two other men tried to help but were also attacked. Police said both were seriously injured. However, they were able to drag the original man’s body through a gate and closed the door.

The dogs found a hole in that fence and continued to attack the men, police said. One of the men was able to grab a gun and shot two of the dogs.

The animals continued to attack and were not deterred by the gunshot wounds, but were frightened off by the arrival of an ambulance, police said.

The critically injured man was airlifted to University Medical Center. The other two were taken to Desert View Hospital in Pahrump where their injuries were treated.

One of the dogs was shot in the lungs and was euthanized, police said. The other two dogs, one shot in the shoulder, were quarantined and will be tested by animal control.

About eight months ago, Davidson’s dogs attacked another man, police said.
