9-year-old boy run over by father identified by coroner

The 9-year-old boy who died after his father accidentally ran him over in Henderson Saturday afternoon was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office Sunday as Austen Russell.

Austen and his father were cleaning the garage of their residence in the 1100 block of Midori Street, near Horizon Ridge Parkway and East Paradise Hills Drive, when the boy was hit by his family’s truck about 4 p.m., Henderson police said.

The man tossed an item at Austen before backing out of the garage, police said. He didn’t realize Austen missed the catch and had gone underneath the truck to retrieve it.

Neighbors performed CPR on Austen but he died later at an area hospital, police said.
