Apartment fire near Eastern, US 95 displaces 30

Thirty people were displaced Tuesday morning following an apartment blaze near Eastern Avenue and U.S. Highway 95, the Las Vegas Fire Department said.
Firefighters were called about 5 a.m. to the Stewart Plaza Apartments in the 2700 block of Marlin Avenue, the fire department said.
Six apartments were damaged. One apartment was gutted by fire and a preliminary investigation said the fire started in bedroom’s closet, the fire department said.
No one was injured, the fire department said.
The fire remains under investigation.
Stewart Avenue and 28th Street in the area were closed. Stewart has since reopened.
