Baby girl who died in home identified

A 10-month-old girl who might have suffocated in a blanket Monday has been identified by the Clark County coroner's office as La'Niyah Pope.

The baby's cause and manner of death was not released by the office Tuesday.

Las Vegas police said investigators at 2:55 p.m. Monday were alerted to the death at a home on the 4000 block of Sunflower Avenue, near Tropicana Avenue and Mountain Vista Street.

Several people were at home with the baby when police were called. Medical personnel pronounced the child dead at the scene.

No charges had been filed against anyone who was present when the death occurred, police said Tuesday afternoon.

The death appeared to be accidental, police said.

The Metropolitan Police Department's Abuse and Neglect Detail is investigating.
