A bicyclist was taken to University Medical Center's trauma unit after being hit by a car in the west valley.

The crash happened just after 5:30 Tuesday evening near the intersection of Westcliff and Buffalo drives, according to Metro's alarm site.

The bicyclist was "in and out of consciousness," Metro Lt. Tom Melton said.
