Californian sentenced for bringing young girls to Las Vegas for prostitution
A California man has been sentenced to eight years in federal prison for enticing two minor girls to travel from Oakland to Las Vegas to work as prostitutes.
Seagram Joshua Miller, 21, of Hayward, Calif., also was ordered on Tuesday to serve 10 years of supervised release after prison and register as a sex offender, according to Nevada U.S. Attorney Daniel Bogden.
Miller pleaded guilty in January to one count of coercion and enticement of a minor. His co-defendant, Ray Darnell Webb, 20, pleaded guilty to the same charges and was sentenced in April to eight years in prison.
The two men were accused of bringing the two girls, 12 and 16 respectively, to Las Vegas in spring 2013.
“These sentences send a strong message that coercing a minor to work as a prostitute is a deplorable and shameful crime that will land you in prison for a long time,” Bogden said. “It is simply unacceptable for adults to take advantage of minors in such a way that forever will impact their lives.”
