Child drowns at southwest valley home

A child drowned in a southwest valley residence Wednesday night, Las Vegas police said.
Medics and police were called about 6:15 p.m. to the 5600 block of Artesia Lake Court, near Russell Road and Jones Boulevard, Metro Lt. Joel Martin said.
The child was taken at University Medical Center, where the child died, Martin said..
Police were on the scene and at UMC investigating, and no further details were available, he said.
The child’s identity will be released by the Clark County coroner’s office.
