Coroner identifies 2 who died when vehicle fell from North Las Vegas overpass

The two people killed when their sport utility vehicle fell from a North Las Vegas overpass Sunday morning have been identified by the Clark County Coroner.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., police received calls about a crash on Carey Avenue near an overpass above Interstate 15, police said.

Rocky Dewayne Dean, 52, was driving a 1995 GMC SUV east on Carey and passed Losee Road at high speed, police said. Witnesses reported the driver appeared to have lost control of the SUV when it left the roadway and fell about 27 feet off the overpass.

Medical personnel pronounced declared Dean and his passenger, Belinda Ann West, 58, dead at the scene.

Police said they're investigating whether alcohol factored into the crash.
